ARTS WORKSHOP
is one of Australia's foremost production houses
engaged in the design and construction of theatrical sets, staging
and themed environments for use in the theatre; large scale exhibitions
and display; and architectural theming in the leisure and entertainment
industries.
 We have unique technical skills
and are able to offer clients a complete service from design
to installation. Our ability to do everything in house gives
us advantages in both cost reduction and quality control, as
we are better able to translate designs and interpret concepts
into workable sets and themes, either for single location productions
or those suitable for touring.
The owners and directors
of the company are all active tradesmen whose skills and techniques
of visual imagery, staging, props and demountable construction
suitable for touring have been developed over many years in the
performing arts. These skills have more recently been utilised
in more commercial applications and enterprises such as interactive
and museum exhibitions, corporate conventions, product launches,
theme parks, and hotel foyer and shopping centre theming.
All necessary aspects
of steel fabrication are done in house and certified, if necessary,
by qualified engineers. Our steel engineering section is complete
with MIG welding machines, cut off saws and a range of steel
and aluminum working equipment. A 5 tonne gantry crane makes
heavy structural steel work possible. All electrical and lighting
work is carried out in-house by our qualified electrical engineer,
as is design and engineering for motor driven components. Our
1000 square metre workshop also houses a large range of timber
working equipment. Sculpting and moulding are an important part
of our work and we have developed a system to treat polystyrene
foam which renders it almost indestructible for items such as
large scale rock face. This system can also be used for moulding
work and eliminates the need for fibre-glassing in most cases.
Arts Workshop has one
of Australia's leading scenic artists and exports painted scenery
all over the world. Our artwork has won several major awards
for its high standards at various expos, e.g., 1994 Singapore
Furniture Expo.
Architectural theming
for cafes, restaurants or retail outlets is an important part
of Arts Workshop's capabilities. Whether it be for permanent
or temporary installations, Arts Workshop has the experience
and knowledge to design, build and install anywhere.

"The quality and workmanship
in Australia was far more attuned to the unique theme of the
restaurant. After flying several times all over Australia to
source contractors and seeing the precise attention to detail
on the spectacular sets for Madame Tussauds, Arts Workshop was
an obvious choice for me. "
Chris Lenz, Igor's Restaurant, Hong Kong.
